Stress and Hypnotherapy
Dealing with stress through hypnotherapy
As many as 40 million people in the UK admit to suffering from stress with 75% of the general population experiencing at least some stress every two weeks* and that’s from as young an age as twelve.
In 2000 the Samaritans claimed that 1 in 5 people were stressed over Christmas and are expecting over 193,000 calls this year. Christmas can bring on lots of different emotions and is often a time of frustration having to revert back to your child-like ways, around your parents, having to fit in around their regime. Christmas is also one of the times when all those things you’ve kept buried deep within you over the year come back at you, such as the loss or break up of a loved one, It’s a very nostalgic time.” Not forgetting the health risks, the effects of stress can break down your immune system, so you are more susceptible to colds, infections and general ill health and this is supposed to be the season to be jolly!!
Stress can and does affect both men & women and all walks of life, at anytime of the year, as our day to day living gets harder our lives become more stressful from pressure from work, family life, money worries, high expectations, but a lot of people don’t like to admit it and ‘soldier on’ this can lead to a lack of confidence, low self esteem, anger and resentment, low sex drive, not eating, overeating or binging, becoming more dependent or addicted to alcohol, nicotine or drugs, even caffeine , self blame, feeling of failure or guilt, sleep deprivation or constant fatigue, let alone your health problems such as, shallow breathing, blood pressure going up, your heart beat racing all of a sudden, chest pains, constant headache or colds or flu or muscle cramps, you may even notice skin rashes occurring or getting worse.
Some stress is good for you, we all need a small amount to be able to survive, and cope with emergencies. If handled in the correct way stress is not only helpful and necessary, it can actually be a very positive force in your life. Stress is mostly emotional stress, the ‘what if’s’, it has nothing to do with the exact moment, it’s what we think may occurs, and when we think of the negative ‘what if’s’ we anticipate the worse, thus bringing the adverse feelings and affects to ourselves and body. However, you can learn how to handle it, to become aware and recognise the effects, through hypnosis and hypnotherapy
“If you are stressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself but to your own interpretation of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any time.”
Marcus Aurelius
Hypnosis helps to change your negative reaction to a positive one, it helps you to relax and become mindful of your thoughts, it can help you to explore the reasons behind why you react in certain ways, and then help to develop and change reactions to the stresses in your life, building coping mechanisms.
Hypnosis unlocks the strength in your unconscious mind, so you can reach you goals.
